🤔 WHAT IS TARO/COLOCASI?
.
According to Wikipedia
“Colocasia esculenta is
⭐️a tropical plant grown primarily for its edible corms,
⭐️a root vegetable most commonly known as taro (/ˈtɑːroʊ, ˈtæroʊ/), kalo, dasheen, madhumbe, marope, magogoya, patra or godere.
.
It is the most widely cultivated species of several plants in the family Araceae that are used as vegetables for their ⭐️corms,
⭐️leaves,
⭐️and petioles.
.
Taro corms are a food staple in African, Oceanic, and South Asian cultures (similar to yams), and taro is believed to have been one of the earliest cultivated plants.”
.
.
And you probably know its leaves 🍃 shape as it’s very boho & tropical these days decor wise.
.
.
However we do grow it in Cyprus 🇨🇾 as well. And this is how i got inspired to do so. We went straight to Deryneia just after landing and on the way there is the Cypriot kolokasi heaven and that was the first thing to admire, the red soiled fields with these tropical plants 🪴seemed to be a tropical sensation to my eyes.
.
.
So I got inspired from that beautiful and not so familiar to me anymore scenery when we finally made it to land in Cyprus after 2 years of strict COVID 😷 traveling 🧳 restrictions. 😱🙏 ✈️
