These No Bake Fudgy Chocolate Protein Balls are yummy, quick, rich in cocoa/chocolate, rich in protein and can be eaten as a snack when you are craving something nutty and chocolatey without having the overload of the processed sugar and hence the calories, that the conventional slice of cake has.

  • takes less than 7 ingredients,
  • less than 30 mins preparation,
  • lasts for a month in the fridge or 3 months in the freezer
  • can be a snack or a dessert
  • and an instant shot of chocolate much more innocent than the conventional commerce products
  • and are low in sugar as I am using minimal amount of dried fruits*

* I am reacting to excess of sugar and gluten, so most of the items that I generally eat on my daily routine, tend to be low in these or without these.

Ingredients

  • Step 1: Mix Dry Ingredients
  • 1/2 a cup of oats

  • 1/2 a cup of ground almond flour

  • 1/3 cup of hazelnuts, then cut in chunks

  • 1/3 cup of cocoa – used Green & Blacks Organic Cocoa

  • Step 2: Mix Dry Fruits & Liquids
  • 2 ice cream scoops of tahini – used Al Maeda

  • 4 dried figs

  • 1/2 – 1 cup of plant based milk – start with 1/2 cup and add gradually more if needed, used Alpro Soya

Directions

  • Step 0: Gather All Ingredients & All Utensils
    – 2 shakers
    – 1 bowl
    – 1 spoon
    – 1 tapper
    – measurement cups or a cup
    – 1 ice-cream scoop
  • Step 1: Mix Dry Ingredients | < 1 min
    Put dry ingredients in a bowl or a shaker and mix it well.
    I use a shaker as it’s blender is always on our kitchen top and it’s also easier to mix items by shaking and spill proof.
  • Step 2: Mix Dry Fruits & Liquids | 3 mins
    Put dry fruits and liquids in another shaker and mix
  • Step 3: Mix Step 1 + Step 2 | 5 mins
    Mix everything together
    Once the batter is formed, roll into balls and chill

Notes

  • Recipe variations can exist: I encourage you to be creative!
  • You don’t have ground almonds? Use 1 cup of oats instead.
  • You don’t have dried figs? Use a scoop of raisins or 4 dates instead
  • Reduce some calories by substituting 1 or some of the ingredients used
  • – the almond flour with oats by -200 overall or -13 calories each
  • – the hazelnuts by half by -90 overall or 6 calories each
  • – the tahini by half by -150 overall or 10 calories each

  • 1/4 a cup of coconut flour, used Earths Finest Organic
    Coconut flour

  • 1/3 cup of hazelnuts, then cut in chunks

  • 6 dates, used Khalas Dates from Kibsons

  • 10 gr of dried mango, 1/2 sachet of 20 gr of Spinneys

  • Step 2: Mix Dry Fruits & Liquids
  • 2 ice cream scoops of tahini - used Al Maeda

  • 1 cup of chocolate milk, used Alpro Soya

Option C: Tahini And Cocoa, Peach And Almonds

  • Step 1: Mix Dry Ingredients
  • 1/2 a cup of oats, blended in to have flour like consistency

  • 1/2 a cup of ground almond flour

  • 1/4 cup of good quality cocoa, used Green & Black

  • Step 2: Mix Dry Fruits & Liquids
  • 2 ice cream scoops of tahini - used Al Maeda

  • 1/2 - 1 cup of plant based milk - start with 1/2 cup and add gradually more if needed, used Alpro Soya

  • 4 dried peaches, used those from Kibsons

  • 10 gr of dried mango, 1/2 sachet of 20 gr of Spinneys

  • splash i.e. 30 ml of mastic liqueur or dark rum

Option D: Peanut Butter, Cocoa And Coconut

  • 1/4 cup of good quality cocoa, used Green & Black

  • Step 2: Mix Dry Fruits & Liquids
  • 4 teaspoons of peanut butter - used Meridian

  • 4 teaspoons of date paste - used Bayara

  • 1/2 - 1 cup of plant based milk
    - start with 1/2 cup and add gradually more if needed, used Macadamia Nut for this version
