Cooking is a form of art: like the artist combines different materials and ideas to create a piece of art, the chef combines different ingredients, tastes and knowledge in order to create something tasty and visually appealing. So in essence, cooked & baked goods can also be regarded as pieces of art.
Cooking other than being a form of art, is also scientific and technical in nature. And like every scientific and technically oriented item, a good process is required to get to a certain result.
Being scientists in mind and chefs at heart, we would like to combine both and make the cooking process simpler and more comprehensive, through simplified steps and illustrations.
The concept of cooking and baking exists since the first steps of humanity. It’s something that all human beings needed to survive and still need and still enjoy.
We live in a global village and people do tend to have similar needs when it comes to food. An example of this proof could be the fact that pastries exist in all over the word in so many different versions and forms; being similar but different. In China it’s called dumpling, in India it’s called gujiya, in Cyprus it’s called poureki, in the Balkans it’s called borek, in Poland it’s called pierogi, in England it’s called pasty, in Caribbean it’s called patty and in Southern Europe and Latin America empanada. And do not forget that when those items where conseptualised people were not so connected with technology and they had still created something similar. How amazing is that!
Luckily in most of the places, these days the survival need, is transformed to one of the most interesting experiences in life. Cooking and eating food is undoubtedly one of the most rewarding experiences, one experience that most of our senses flirt with and enjoy. By experiencing food, we do experience a piece of the history of the maker and the influences that made him create it.

Some of the recipes displayed are based on the traditional recipes i.e. what our grandparents told us, and some others are the evolution of those traditional recipes as those were evolved in our kitchen: engagement of Mediterranean elements with elements inspired and influenced by the beautiful and diverse locations that we have lived such as London; essentially from allover the world due to its diverse and multicultural character, and of course the Czech Republic (Soteris is half Czech).
Our mission is to inspire you to produce home made recipes designed for practicality, taste, freshness and quality in a structured and process oriented manner which is simple to follow and understood.
